The Adel Aquatic Center will officially open their doors to the public by holding a grand opening on Aug. 2 at 12:30 p.m.
All season pass holders and daily paying visitors will receive a ticket for a free hot dog, bag of chips, and a drink to be redeemed anytime during normal aquatic hours during their grand opening.
The 5-acre facility holds 283,000 gallons of heated water, two waterslides, a lap pool, a “leap-frog” area, splash pad and shade tents.
According to City Administrator Brett Klein, the City intends to keep the facility open on the weekends after area schools start as well as through Labor Day if there are available lifeguards on duty.
Parks and Recreation Director Nick Schenck stated in a recent release how pleased he is with the completion and dedication of local volunteers, the planning committee, the Park Board and the Adel City Council.
“I have never seen so many families at our City pool,” he said in the release. “It is great to have an amenity that families and individuals of all ages can enjoy in the summer.”
The facility’s current hours of operation are daily from 12:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
