The Summer Reading Program is off to a tremendous start. So far, 440 kids have signed-up for the program which is more than 25 kids than last year. Turnout has been great for our early literacy program as well as for the adults and teen programs. Not signed-up? It’s not too late! All reading logs are due by July 18th.
The library has several upcoming events for children that we are very excited about. On July 15th at 2:00 pm Kil’n Time Studio will be at the library. Join us for dog stories and paint a ceramic dog of your own. For children of all ages. The Top Reader Pool Party will be on Monday, July 21st at 11:30am. The Top Reader Pool Party is only for top readers who have turned in a total of 30 hours and who have received an official invite. The rain date is July 22nd.
The Science Center of Iowa will be at the library on July 23rd at 11:00 am to wrap-up the Summer Reading Program.
The next gathering of the Brown Bag Book Club is @ Noon on Thursday, July 10th when we’ll be discussing the novel Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline. Take your lunch break at the library and come share your love of books with us.
Our next Classic Movie Monday on the big screen will be on Monday, July 14th @ 2:00 pm. We’re happy to watch the wonderful CBC miniseries Anne of Green Avonlea.
In July the Evening Book Club will be discussing the book The Expats by Chris Pavone on Thursday the 31st @ 7:00 pm.
Our third Friends of the Adel Public Library Foundation summer Garage Sales will be on Friday July 25th and Saturday July 26th in the second floor conference room. The library will accept items for the garage sale during regular business hours. While you are doing your summer cleaning, the library is also accepting book donations for the Annual Friends of the Adel Public Library Foundation Book Sale. The book sale is open to Friends members on Friday, August 8th and to the general public on Saturday, August 9th.
