The Annual Soup Luncheon will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Noon with program to follow at 1 p.m. Your free will donation benefits further Adult programming. This year’s program, presented by Robert Wolf, features a fossil collection called “Bob’s Box of Rocks” where you’ll get hands on experience with fossils, some of which are more than a billion years old!

Children’s activities are a great escape during these bitterly cold January days. Story Time for 3-5-year-olds will meet on Mondays, Toddler Time for children 3 and under will be held on Tuesdays, while Music Time for all children will meet on Thursdays. We are excited for kids’ activities to resume on Monday, January 20th at 10:30 a.m. Come have some fun! To kick off our winter children’s programming, Dallas County Conservation will host an exciting story time on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 10:30 am. Thanks to all those who came last month to watch movies with us. We had so much fun watching “The Man from Snowy River” that, at our next Classic Movie Monday, we’ll watch the sequel “Return to Snowy River.” Join us on Monday, Jan. 14 at 2 p.m.; we’ll bring the popcorn! Kick those extra holiday pounds by joining our Morning Exercise Program three mornings each week and get your New Year started in a fit and healthy way. The exercise group meets Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 9 a.m. every week. Complete schedules are available at the information desk.

Reading is sweet! It’s time for our winter Family Reading Program to begin. Come to the library on Friday, Jan. 17 to sign up for the program and play a life sized game of Candy Land from 6 to 7 p.m. Our Book Clubs are always welcoming new people to our fun-filled discussions. The library has two monthly adult book clubs that are open to everyone. The Brown Bag Book Club meets on Thursday, Jan. 9 at Noon to talk about “Sophie: the Incredible Story of the Castaway Dog” by Emma Pearse. The Prairie Street Book Club will meet on Thursday, January 30th at 7 p.m. to talk about the novel “Arcadia” by Lauren Groff. The library is a great place to host your meeting or event, our Community Room was used for your events 487 times last year. Please remember the library will close at 1:00 pm on New Year’s Eve and will be closed on New Year’s Day. As always, information about the Adel Public Library and all of our clubs, events, and programs is available on our website at www.adelpl.org , or you can follow us on our Facebook page or on Twitter at https://twitter.com/AdelLibrary.
