The City of Adel will be holding a public hearing on entering into a 28E Agreement with Dallas County on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 6 p.m. at Adel City Hall.
Discussion will center around site selection, acquisition, and preparation of the proposed site, and to educate the public on the needs and desirability of building a county administrative building.
The proposed agreement would create a separate entity called the Adel-Dallas County Public Corporation consisting of Mayor Jim Peters and Board of Supervisors Chairman Kim Chapman to select the site location, determine the economic feasibility of the site, to acquire property to be held under a joint venture, and a deed of the said property to Dallas County.
Also included is a $1 million contribution from the City of Adel’s TIF fund for real estate acquisition in addition to sharing legal, clerical, and administrative custodial responsibilities proposed by Dallas County. The City of Adel is stated to cooperate with Dallas County in bringing infrastructure and utilities for the County’s proposed public safety building to the east Adel location, formerly known as Ortonville, if the Council passes a resolution to approve the site.
The proposed 28E Agreement can be found on the City’s home page at www.adeliowa.org and during regular business hours at Adel City Hall.
At the meeting, the Council will review and listen to comments from the public. After all comments have been heard and read, the Council will decide the said proposal.
