County mayors write letter in support of administration move

The DCN just received a letter to the editor from 13 mayors who have expressed their support for the move of county administration offices and a jail facility to east Adel.

The letter reads:

To the Editor,

As elected officials from 13 communities in Dallas County, we have watched the process our county officials have undertaken leading to the proposal to build an administration and public safety facility in east Adel.

We recognize our dramatic population growth, which has more than doubled since 1997, has outpaced the county’s office space and is squeezing its ability to perform vital services. Also, we respect the thorough and well-reasoned approach that Dallas County leaders have taken in reviewing a number of different building plans and construction sites to select the one that they believe best serves the needs of our residents.

We know that our county officials have worked hard to make the best use of technology to delivery services efficiently and effectively, but they simply need more office space to serve a population that has more than doubled since 1997.

We encourage all Dallas County residents, especially those in our communities, to review all the facts at the county’s informational website, www.dallascountyfuture.com, and vote on Aug. 6.
