Dallas County Democrats recently filled the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School commons for their spring event in memory of Bob Creech, the Democratic County Chair for over 20 years.

Sen. Tom Harkin spoke at the event, stating “At the time Bob Creech was Dallas County Chair, all but one of the Dallas County elected seats were filled with democrats. There are enough Democrats that we can do this again; we just have to get out and vote.”

Sen. Harkin authored the Amercians with Disabilities Act, which was signed into law July 26, 1990. He currently is working on passing a bill to increase minimum wage to $10.10. This bill would make it possible for people working 40 hours to be above the poverty level and would increase the cost of living.

In attendance were Staci Appel, candidate for the U.S. Congress, Jack Hatch, candidate for Iowa Governor, Dallas County Attorney Wayne Reisetter, Jon Neiderbach for Iowa State Auditor, Sherrie Taha for Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Stephen Roe for Iowa House District 20, and Pam Deichman for Iowa Senate District 13.

Creech was among the first to urge Harkin to run for Congress in 1972.
