FAYETTE – Upper Iowa University names its 2013-14 Dean’s List. To be honored, the undergraduate must have earned a minimum 3.50 GPA for the semester and be enrolled as a full-time student.

Walton of Granger receives Pschology Senior of the Year award at Buena Vista
STORM LAKE – Gwendolyn Walton of Granger was recently honored at Buena Vista University’s (BVU) student recognition event. She is a recent graduate of BVU who majored in psychology.
Walton received the Psychology Senior of the Year Award from BVU’s School of Social Science, Philosophy and Religion.
Boswell of Van Meter awarded scholarships from Dordt College
SIOUX CENTER –Colton Boswell of Van Meter, Iowa, has been awarded football and Honors scholarships from Dordt College as an incoming freshman. Scholarship details were not provided.
Granger’s Taylor named to Dean’s List at SDSU
BROOKINGS, S.D. – The following students have been named to the dean’s list for academic excellence during the Spring 2014 semester at South Dakota State University. To earn dean’s list distinctions in SDSU’s colleges, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credits and must have earned at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Students with an asterisk received a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Austin of Grimes named Roadman Scholar at Morningside
SIOUX CITY – Laura Austin from Grimes, Iowa, was named a Roadman Scholar at Morningside College in recognition of high academic distinction for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Roadman Scholars must be full-time students who have completed at least 45 credits of college work with a cumulative grade point average of 3.76 or above. The award is named in honor of the late Earl Roadman, who was president of Morningside College from 1936 to 1956.
Waukee’s Futer graduates from Pratt Institute
BROOKLYN, NY – Waukee resident Rebecca Futer received a BFA Painting degree from New York City’s prestigious Pratt Institute at its 125th Commencement ceremony. Held at the iconic Radio City Music Hall, Futer was one of 1,337 graduating students to be awarded their degree.
Area students graduate from Graceland University LAMONI – Graceland University celebrates the graduation achievement of 500 graduates, hailing from 38 states and 11 countries. Graceland graduates were awarded 313 bachelor’s degrees, 181 master’s degrees, and the very first six Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees from Graceland at the 117th Annual Commencement Convocation held Sunday, May 18, 2014, on the Lamoni, Iowa, campus.

Wedemeyer receives BVU travel award
STORM LAKE – Alison Wedemeyer, a junior accounting and marketing major from Waukee, was recently honored at Buena Vista University’s (BVU) student recognition event.
Wedemeyer received the Ed Bock and Henry Olson Travel Award. This award is for BVU students to support them in opportunities they might not experience otherwise.
Wayne State College announces Dean’s List
Wayne, Neb. – More than 900 students at Wayne State College were named to the Dean’s List for exemplary academic achievement during the past semester.
Students listed on the dean’s list are full-time undergraduate students who have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale for the semester.
Area student Ashton Yossi of Dallas Center was named to the list.
Wilkinson honored at BVU
STORM LAKE – Grace Wilkinson, a sophomore communication studies major from Woodward, was recently honored at Buena Vista University’s (BVU) student recognition event.
Wilkinson received the Steif Award, which recognizes two students who have positively contributed to the community life in residence halls.
Ihrke of Waukee earns Master’s Degree from Morningside
SIOUX CITY – Jessica Ihrke from Waukee, was one of 87 graduate students to receive a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, at the end of the spring semester.
