Fire claims DC-G coach’s home

At 1:05 p.m. Tuesday, Polk county Sheriff’s Office responded to a fire at DC-G’s girls’ basketball coach Mike Levenhagen’s home 600 block of NW Norton Circle in Grimes.

Grimes Fire and Rescue, assisted by the cities of Urbandale, Johnston, Ankeny, Waukee, Windsor Heights, Granger, Fraser Ambulance, Grimes City Works and Mid-American Energy, controlled the fire and was contained to the one residence.

At this time it is unknown what started the fire.

There were no reported injuries, but the damage to the home is extensive.

Levenhagen is Dallas Center-Grimes girls’ basketball coach.

To help donate, an account has been started at City State Bank under the name Levenhagen. Also, DC-G and Woodward Granger High Schools are accepting donations.
