Genesis Development receives prestigious awards

CARF International has announced that Genesis Development has received its highest accreditation award for Services Coordination; Supported Living Services; Community Employment Services – Employment Supports, Job Development, and Employment Planning; Organizational Employment Services (work centers); Community Housing (group homes); Community Integration (Discovery programs); Mental Health (adults, children, adolescents) – Assessment & Referral, Crisis Intervention, and Outpatient Treatment; and Governance Standards Applied. This is the eleventh consecutive Three-Year Accreditation that the international accrediting body has awarded to Genesis.

This accreditation decision is for a period of three years and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. During the first week in October, Genesis went through a rigorous peer review process at all of its locations. The organization demonstrated to a six-person team of surveyors during three days of on-site visits that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable.

Genesis is a not-for-profit organization with offices in Jefferson, Boone, Storm Lake, Winterset, Indianola, Belle Plaine, Toledo, Perry, Adel, Cedar Rapids, and Grinnell. Genesis has been providing services for people with disabilities since 1973.

CARF International headquartered in Tucson, AZ, is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services provided by health and human services organizations. CARF currently accredits close to 50,000 programs and services provided by more than 6,500 providers at more than 22,000 locations. More than 8 million persons of all ages are served annually by CARF-accredited service providers.

Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF International, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services. Accreditation demonstrates a provider’s commitment to enhance its performance, manage its risk, and distinguish its service delivery.
