Jason McGrann, staff reporter for Dallas County News and the Perry Chief, has been named Dallas County News Editor. He was born and raised in south-central Iowa and has more than nine years of professional newspaper experience. McGrann, a Cincinnati, Iowa native, spent most of his newspaper career at the Centerville Daily Iowegian, working as sports editor before being promoted to managing editor. Early in his career, he worked as a sports writer for the Ottumwa Courier.
McGrann has received several Iowa Newspaper Association awards for writing and photography.
“I am honored to be named editor at Dallas County News. DCN has a long, storied tradition and great reputation,” said McGrann. “I look forward to serving the citizens of Dallas County.”
McGrann attended Indian Hills Community College and Iowa State University and holds an Associate of Arts degree and Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology.
While at Indian Hills Community College, McGrann was a member of the baseball squad, earning all-region accolades in consecutive seasons and being named to the Iowa Junior College All-Star game. He was also a member of the Iowa State University baseball team during the program’s final season.
McGrann and his wife, Ashley, have a 7-year-old son, Mason.
