An informational meeting regarding the proposed addition to the Adel Historic Museum to honor Nile Kinnick Jr. and his grandfather, former Iowa Governor George W. Clarke, will be held Thursday, Dec. 12 at the Raccoon Valley Community House in Adel.
Everyone is invited to attend and discuss the museum’s fund raising drive and goal of a new addition to the museum to honor the two legendary Iowans.
Refreshments, adult beverages and snacks will be provided and tours of the museum will follow the informational meeting. Those providing a minimum $25 donation will receive a Kinnick T-shirt during the tour.
The proposed addition to the museum will house items commemorating many of the accomplishments of both Kinnick, the 1939 Heisman Trophy winner, and his grandfather George Washington Clarke. These items are currently crowded into a small display in the museum, but the he new addition will allow them to be displayed in their own prominent space.
The Raccoon Valley Community House is located at 1016 Main St., Adel.
“We really need your help in honoring the legacy of these esteemed individuals by providing an appropriate forum to house commemorative artifacts,” said Adel City Administrator Bret Klein.
