Adel’s Main Street was blocked off and a festive Bag Toss fund-raising event was held on Saturday morning, June 14 to celebrate Flag Day. This event was created to raise money for the Adel American Legion Post 464. Mayor Peters of Adel was in attendance along with 464 Legion Post Commander Jerry Bond. Bond said, “This is a first time event for us to help raise money for a new roof at the Legion in Adel. The Legion in Adel is here to help support the veterans. We provide wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, hospital beds and also help out private citizens in Adel as needed. Legion 464 also sponsors other events throughout the year.”

Adel resident Troy Weiland, who is in charge of the Brick Street Enterprises, helped organize the Bag Toss Event with Legion Post 464. Weiland, who is also a veteran and Legion member said, “For the bag toss we had eight teams - and there is a double elimination. This is a huge help to our local veterans.”

Young and old participated in the street event, and it was a terrific family-fun time for a sunny Flag Day.
