One dead in fatal crash at Dallas Center airport

DALLAS CENTER – At approximately 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, authorities responded to a fatal crash at the Dallas Center Airport at 24572 North Avenue, just west of Dallas Center. The driver of a large flatbed truck was pronounced dead at the scene. No others were involved in the accident. The truck apparently lost control and left the highway, crashing through a concrete building at the airport.

“We’re unsure of the cause of the accident at this time,” commented Adam Infante of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. “We do not think it’s medical - maybe a vehicle malfunction or something like that causing the vehicle to leave the roadway.”

Infante commented that the truck appeared to be hauling some sort of animal protein or animal feed but wasn’t sure.

“We don’t think it’s medical, it appears he died as a cause of the accident, but we’re not quite sure,” added Infante.

The driver has not yet been identified and the accident is currently under investigation.
