The Dallas County Sheriff and Dallas County EMS departments took part in the “Plunge for Landon” challenge – an effort to help Landon Shaw, a 5-month-old infant from Missouri, battle cancer – last week.

Sheriff Chad Leonard, along with other members of the department took part in the plunge in full uniform, outside of the Sheriff’s Office in Adel. A free-will donation was held for those who jumped into the cold water.

The “Plunge for Landon” was started at the end of March to help raise awareness for the infant and to help the family with medical costs. The word went viral with individuals posting their own plunges on Facebook and donating money for those who also accepted the challenge and took the plunge.
