Students at Adel- De Soto-Minburn, Van Meter and Waukee High Schools celebrated years of achievement as they became the Class of 2013 this Sunday.

A-D-M’s graduation, held in their north gymnasium, was kicked off by Superintendent Greg Dufoe who commemorated the 97 seniors on their accomplishments.

He also presented senior speakers Sophie Hansen and Noah Taylor who gave out advice and reminisced about their years in high school.

Over 40, $1,000 scholarships were awarded from the A-D-M Scholarship Foundation and other local scholarships were given out as well.

After being awarded their diplomas and being named the Class of 2013, students tossed their hats into the air to celebrate the momentous occasion.

Also that day, 45 Van Meter seniors walked across the stage at the Van Meter High School gym.

Senior Zach Prouty opened the ceremony with a welcome while students Caroline Closson was named valedictorian and Mason Walton as salutatorian.

The Waukee graduating class of 2013 also took part in commencement at the Knapp Center at Drake University.

Student Zoe Scheve delivered the opening speech during the ceremony.
