Iowa Library Services/State Library has announced that Jolena Welker with the Van Meter Public Library has completed all requirements for public librarian certification.
The purpose of the Iowa Certification Program for Public Librarians is to improve library service to Iowans by developing the skills of public library staff members. Certification is a voluntary program. To receive a certificate, individuals must meet certain work experience and/or educational requirements. Certificates are valid for three years. Recertification requires a participant to complete an additional 45 hours of continuing education every three years.
“Librarians completing the Certification Program are to be congratulated,” said State Librarian Mary Wegner. “Such dedication and commitment by the local library and librarian are essential to the provision of high quality public library service in Iowa.”
