Van Meter Public Library

Hello! I hope everyone is enjoying their warm homes, warm drinks and a good book! We have many books in our library on your health and several great magazines that can help you get through this winter.

This Monday we will have had the Dallas County Conservationists in on the wood chucks. Also for the kids Michelle has started a “One Direction Club” for the after school kids. I really would have enjoyed that growing up to have a club that got together over our favorite music and singers. So let Michelle know if you are interested and she can give you the details.

This Thursday at 7 p.m. is the Sci-fi/Fantasy lover group at the library. This is for all ages and first come to talk about what you are currently reading. Then we will watch an old Sci-fi movie and we will supply the popcorn. Be sure to bring your own drink.

We have new books and movies coming into the library. I have started to watch Downton Abbey and really enjoy it. We will soon have all three seasons in the library. Let us know if you would like to be put on the list. We also have on order the first “Mortal Instruments” DVD and “Haunters”.

We had new puzzles donated to the library and they look like they will be a lot of fun. We also had someone donate an old Batman and Robin book and Superman book. These are from the 1930s-1970s. I really appreciate these and they can be read in the library. They really add a lot to Super Hero month. We have had fun playing UNO this past week and the kids have been creating with card board and yarn. When I see what the kids are doing it makes me realize to take the time and watch them for a bit. They are making memories.

We also have a patron who donates many greeting cards. We have plenty to share so if you can’t get to the store and need a card check with us we may have what you need.

Please keep in touch and let us know how your library can serve your needs.

The popcorn has been popping and the hot fresh coffee is always on.
