Waukee Christian Church hosts family festival

The Waukee Christian Church will be hosting their first annual Family Fun Festival on Aug. 4 from 5-7:30 p.m. (a rain date is Aug. 7) to help raise awareness about hunger in the community and help stock the food pantry shelves.

The event is free and open to the public; the only admission is an item of non-perishable food.

Those who are the first 250 people to donate a non-perishable food item will be served a free meal. Individuals will be able to enjoy games, crafts and activities including an inflatable obstacle course, puppet show, dunk tank, climbing wall, roast marshmallows and explore a Waukee police car or fire truck.

Local churches are also joining in by submitting homemade pies and cookies for the Blue Ribbon Bake Off. Local celebrity judges will announce the winner of the pie contest.

For more information on the festival, please contact Waukee Christian Church at 515-987-4937 or go to www.waukeechristianchurch.com. Food pantry information and a list of food needs can be found on http://waukeechristianservices.org/faq/.
