A public hearing was held at the Waukee City Council Meeting held on Monday, Feb. 3 on plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimate cost of the SE Alice’s Road/SE University Avenue Intersection Improvements.
Sealed bids were to be sent to the Waukee City Clerk by Wednesday, Jan. 29 before 2 p.m. concerning the project. According the City Clerk Schuett, no correspondence was received. Any bids received would have been opened at that time then read at the meeting held Feb. 3.
Director of Public Works Gibson briefly reviewed the project at the meeting. The project consists of widening the intersection from four lanes to six, relocation of two overhead electrical transmission poles, railroad crossing modifications, and relocation of street lighting.
Although Gibson denied any anticipated road closures, he noted that all but one of lanes may be closed at times during construction. He also indicated that the relocation of the electric poles would occur before June 2014. No comments were made by the public present.
