Alice E. Madren, 89 of Redfield passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Iowa Methodist West Hospital in West Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Thursday, January 16th at the Redfield Christian Church. Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, January 17th at the Redfield Christian Church. Burial will be at Harper Cemetery near Redfield. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Redfield Christian Church, in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart, Iowa 50250. Alice was born March 23, 1924 to Harry and Viola (Dickey) Godwin in Bagley, Iowa. She attended Panora High School and graduated with the class of 1943. After graduation she was united in marriage to Gerald Madren in Missouri. To this union four children were born. Gerald and Alice soon began many entrepreneurial ventures: starting several businesses, projects and fixing up old houses for resale. She was also employed at Wahlgreens in Des Moines for 19 years. She was a life-long member of the Redfield Christian Church and lived in the Redfield area her whole life. She was preceded in death by her parents: Harry and Viola Godwin; husband: Gerald Madren; son: Jerry Madren; one sister and several brothers.

Alice leaves behind her children: Dennis (Margie Woodhead) Madren of Redfield, Alyce (Greg) Milosevic of Des Moines, Jimmy Madren of Waukee; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings: Gleansa Coulter of Adel, Levin Lynn of Ankeny, Bobby Godwin of Brooklyn, Ester Niemela of Panora, Marie Bailey-Borst of Adel; and a host of other family and friends that will miss her dearly.
