Carolyn Jeanne Dye Collins, 77, of Adel died on July 21, 2014 in Adel, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, July 25th , at the First Christian Church in Adel with burial at Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 PM on Thursday at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel, where family will greet friends from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM.
Carolyn was the 1st child of Darroll and Hazel (Sterling) Dye, born at the farm home in rural Waukee on October 16, 1935. Carolyn graduated from Dallas Center High School in 1950 and worked several years at Brenton Bank in Dallas Center. She married the love of her life, Bob Collins, on November 17, 1956. They made their home in rural Adel, farming for 57 years. They loved to square dance and play cards with friends. She was active in a neighborhood women’s club, First Christian Church CWF and a sponsor of CYF. Bob and Carolyn wintered in Arizona for 20 years. She loved gardening, cooking, playing with her dogs and cats and especially loved watching her kids and grandkids in 4H and sports.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers-in-law, Nick Button and Ernie Lamb.
She is survived by her husband Bob; sister Joyce Button; sister-in-law Hutoka Lamb; daughter Robin Reasoner; son Rod (Ann) Collins; two grandchildren Kate and Spencer Collins; nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
