Dan Peterson was born July 1, 1958 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines to Robert W. and Celesta (Brooker) Peterson of Van Meter and he died October 3 in DeSoto. He was baptized and later confirmed his vows at Trinity Lutheran Church in Van Meter.

He attended Van Meter Schools and graduated in 1976. He was in band, Scouts and Little League. He attended DMACC taking sheet metal, air conditioning and truck driving courses. He worked most of his life in truck driving, plumbing and heating & cooling but worked last at SACMI USA in Urbandale.

Dan loved to fish and hunt in his youth. He received a certificate from the Iowa DNR for the largest Bluegill caught in an Iowa farm pond. As he grew older he stopped hunting and fishing but continued to drive around the area watching wildlife.

His survivors include his parents, a sister Janet (Bob) Willemsen of Des Moines and a daughter Randey Peterson.

Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel where family will greet friends from 1:00 until services begin. Burial of his cremated remains will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery near Van Meter. Casual dress is requested.
