Donna Rae Myers, 69, of Boone, formerly of Woodward, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. In agreement with her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation or services held. A private family committal service will take place at a later date at Liberty Cemetery, north of Woodward.
Donna was born on April 25, 1944, in Perry, Iowa, to Richard Edgar and Helen Pearl (Barr) Doidge. For many years, Donna was employed as a Registered Nurse. She had lived in Polk City for 24 years prior to moving to Woodward in 1991. Donna was a former member of Woodward United Methodist Church and the Thursday Morning Coffee Club. She enjoyed spending time going to her grandchildren’s sporting events and going shopping and hanging out with her daughter-in-law and close friend, Michele Myers.
She is survived by her children, Joseph (Michele) Myers of Woodward, Julie (Paul) Koster of Winterset, IA, and Jeanette (Eric) Sharp of Colorado; their father, John R. Myers of Woodward; sister, Mary (Dick) Sheppard of Kansas City, KS; brother, Jon (Mary) Doidge of West Des Moines; six grandchildren, Abbie and Jaimie Myers, Danielle and Derek Koster and Alec and Anna Sharp; and a host of extended family members including Jovi, Jade, Jeci, Reygan and Leyla. Donna was preceded into eternal life by her parents; and one son, Jim Myers.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to all the Fire and Rescue volunteers in Woodward and Madrid and all the neighboring communities who helped so graciously when Donna was lost last year. In recognition of all these volunteers, any memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Fire and Rescue Departments.
