Edith C. Barton, 94, passed from this life on Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, following a brief illness.

The family will greet friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Dallas Center United Methodist, burial will be at Masonic Cemetery in Dallas Center.

Edith was born on January 20, 1919, in rural Adel, Iowa to Leroy and Ruby (Dawson) Wicks.

She married Dwight Barton on March 15, 1942 and they made their home in the Dallas Center area for many years. Edith was a homemaker, and a member of the Dallas Center United Methodist Church and Federated Gardens Club, Colfax social society, and WiMoDaSi social club.She was a State Secretary for Iowa Farmers Union.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her two sons, Dwight (Marilyn) Barton of Dallas Center and Dwayne (Cynthia) Barton of Indianola, 4 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren, sister Helen (Lowell) Dawes of Adel. brother in-law Ivan Knoll of Adel. Edith was preceded into eternal life by her parents, husband Dwight, one sister, Lola Knoll, and one brother Robert Wicks.

Memorials may be made to Dallas Center United Methodist Church, or Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center.
