Bud Hicks. 87, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 at Methodist Hospital. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, April 18 at the American Legion Hall in Redfield with burial and military honors to follow at East Linn Cemetery. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Merle Hay Funeral Home in Des Moines.

Bud was born January 22, 1926 in Des Moines and married Marjorie Arnburg on October 17, 1948 in Casey, IA. They resided in Des Moines for five years before making their home in Redfield. He was employed with Wright Tree Service, Des Moines Parks Department and Iowa Soya which later became Cargill. Bud retired from Cargill in 1991.

Bud was a WWII Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 261 and volunteered with the Redfield Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; parents and two sisters, Mary Lou Peterson and Betty Jo Diehr.

Bud’s memory will be cherished by his children, David (Coleen) Hicks of Kingman, AZ, Mark Hicks of Ankeny, Susan Richmond of Redfield and Matt (Tracie) Hicks of Redfield; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Kathleen Shuey of CA as well as many extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Redfield Fire Department or to American Legion Post 261.
