Scotty died Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston at the age of 76. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 9, at Assumption Catholic Church in Granger with burial to follow at Lincoln Cemetery in Granger.

Scotty was born on April 21, 1937, in Huston, MO to Guy and Opal Scott. He moved to Granger with his family at the age of three weeks where he has been a life-long resident. Scotty worked for Midamerican Energy for 43 years, retiring in 2002. He married Darlene Kane on May 30, 1992, in Marshalltown, IA and then made their home in Granger. After retirement Scotty enjoyed woodworking and watching his Purple Martins. Scotty’s greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.

Scotty is survived by his wife Darlene, his step-children, Kraig (Terri) Kane of Altoona, Klay Kane and Mick (Chris) Kane, both of Ankeny, and Todd Kane of Phoenix, AZ; 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; his sister Noreen Huffman of Granger and his sister-in-law Rosie Scott of Granger; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-son Kim Kane, and his siblings, Helen McClean, Margie Miner, Donald Scott, and Geraldine Dalton.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Sunday at Assumption Church in Granger where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Palliative Care. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com.
