The Mudd Foot River Billies will be holding their fourth annual carp fishing tournament on Saturday, Aug. 24. Registration will be held in Perry’s Pattee Park from 6:30-7:30 a,n at the large shelter house. The entry fee is $25 for adults and $15 for children under 15 years old. Participants with a current and valid fishing license can register as individuals or in teams of two fishermen.
The fishing begins at 8 a.m. and participants must be at the weigh-in station at 5 p.m. The fishing is only on the North Raccoon River between Adel and Jefferson.
Prizes will be awarded for the largest carp and for the heaviest stringer of fish. Last year the largest carp weighed 12.1 pounds and the largest stringer tipped the scale at 110.5 pounds. There will also be raffles for a fishing boat with motor and trailer, and a large screen television. The fish will be donated to Saving Our Avian Resources (S.O.A.R.) - a rehabilitation center for injured bald eagles, hawks, and owls. S.O.A.R. will have a live eagle on display and present a program about bald eagles at 3PM in Pattee Park.
