Hello from Van Meter! What beautiful weather. There have been so many of you out to say Hello and check out what we can offer. I have also had many of you contact me in helping with the Van Meter Visitor Festival. Thank you!
Then the other big topic has been Van Meter baseball. Go Bulldawgs! You can do it!
We have had a very busy week as summer reading winds down. Our last day is not until August 1st so keep turning in your reading times. The chain is around the library and we are on our way the second time around. Remember each link represents an hour of reading by a child or teen. Thank you to for all those helping in the library as we continue moving items around.
Thank you Shannon Buckner, Joey Shepherd, Alex Ozier, Portia Haynes and many others. Thank you too for the brand new books and magazines that were donated this past week. I have been amazed. I have also felt so thankful.
Here is our schedule coming up:
Wednesday Science experiments at 10am.
Thursday 7pm Science Fiction/Fantasy book club - we will be discussing “A Swiftly Tilting Planet”. We will be handing out “The Color of Magic” by Terry Pratchett. This is at the library.
Friday Snack and treat day!
August 1st from noon - 3pm Our Police Chief Daggett and Van Meter officers will host a bicycle rodeo to cover bicycle safety before school starts back up.
August 2nd 9:30 am we will hand out prizes for summer reading and then go over to the fire house for a movie and popcorn. The movie has yet to be decided. Come on out and celebrate. Also mark your calendars September 27th from 3-10:30 pm for the second annual Van Meter Visitor Festival. More information will be coming. All three authors will be here Chad Lewis, Noah Voss and Kevin Nelson.
So stop in and enjoy a cup of coffee and a cool place to study, read, relax and use our free wireless. Have a great weekend.
