To the Editor:
The Iowa Juvenile Home is a tragic case. Most importantly, it is tragic that the children there were abused and deprived of basic rights. Iowans agree that closing the facility was the right thing to do because it placed the children in a better situation. Oddly, people angry at the closing seem to be special interests or people trying to score cheap political points. My friends and neighbors agree that ultimately, we have to do what is best for the children. Anything else is just a dishonest sideshow and takes the focus away from the care and compassion for some of the most vulnerable in our state. Let’s work together for the benefit of the children.
