Educational Attainment of 25 to 64 Year Olds in 2005 – Iowa and the U.S. Average: In 2005, among its adults aged 25 to 64, Iowa ranked ninth in the nation (92.3 percent) in the percentage of citizens with at least high school diploma, 32nd in the percentage of adults with a bachelor’s degree or higher (26.5 percent) and 41st in the percentage with a graduate or professional degree (7.9 percent). Relative to the U.S. average, Iowa has larger percentages of adults who have completed just a high school diploma, some college and associate degrees, the same percentage as the U.S. with bachelor’s degrees, and a smaller percentage with graduate and professional degrees.
