The All-Little Hawkeye Conference teams have been released and their are six Mustangs represented on the lists. Junior pitcher Cole Baker and junior outfielder Jacob Mueller were named to the first team while senior pitcher Max Balzer and senior infielder Tyler Pierson were selected for the second team. Justin Carlyle and Nate Osborn received honorable mentions.
Baker made 14 starts this year and went 9-5 on the mound with a 0.68 earned run average and 106 strikeouts with batters hitting .123 against him. At the plate, he led the team with 22 RBIs and three home runs with a .245 batting average.
Mueller had a .333 batting average this season with 12 RBIs, six doubles, and a team second best 21 runs on the offensive side this season. He also led the team with seven sacrifices.
On the second team, Balzer, a senior this year, went 6-3 in 13 starts on the mound this year with a 1.60 ERA and 62 strikeouts while batters hit .174 against him on average. He had exactly the same batting average this season as his fellow DC-G pitcher, Baker, at .245 while batting in 17 runs.
Pierson, also a senior this year was the team’s batting leader with a .338 batting average and also had a team-high, 12 doubles while batting in 15 runs.
Carlyle and Osborn round out the selections for the Mustangs on the honorable mentions list. The Mustangs went on to have a 15-6 conference record and tied for the Little Hawkeye Conference championship with Norwalk.
