The pairings for the boys’ soccer substate tournaments have been released as soccer teams from across the state of Iowa will face off for a chance to play at the state tournament.
Unlike last season, Adel-DeSoto-Minburn and Dallas Center-Grimes have not been paired up in the same substate bracket, so both teams will have a chance to make the state tournament.
The Tigers have a first-round bye and will play the winner of the game between Knoxville and Oskaloosa on May 29 in Adel. Should they win, they will play either Norwalk, Carlisle or Centerville in the substate finals on May 31 in Norwalk for a chance at state.
The Mustangs also have a first-round bye and will play the winner of the game between Carroll and Harlan on May 29 in Grimes. If they win, they will play either Winterset, Creston or Glenwood in the substate finals on May 31 in Grimes.
Waukee also received a first-round bye and will play either Des Moines Hoover or Des Moines North in Waukee on May 29, and if they win they will play Urbandale, West Des Moines Dowling Catholic or Ames in the substate finals on May 31 in Waukee.
The Mustangs’ and the Warriors’ second-round games begin at 6 p.m. while the Tigers start at 6:30. The substate final games begin at noon.
The boys’ soccer state tournament runs from June 5 through June 7 at Cownie Soccer Park in Des Moines.
