The Van Meter boys’ basketball team improved to 11-0 with an 57-14 win at Guthrie Center on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs held Guthrie Center to a season-low point total while shooting 50 percent (22-of-44) from the field themselves. Brandon Brittain led with 19 points and six steals, and Stephen Folkerts finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Ben Trent added eight points and five steals off the bench.
The win over the Tigers followed up a pair of lopsided victories: a 66-38 win at Winterset on Jan. 4, and a 74-39 thrashing of Ogden at home on Jan. 3.
The Bulldogs outscored Winterset 18-11 in the first quarter, then buried them with a 24-point second frame to go up 42-21 at halftime. Folkerts had 18 points and seven rebounds, Ben Flaherty added 12 points and five poards and Jake Eslick finished with nine points and four assists. Parker Suckow added eight po;ints and seven rebounds.
Folkerts led Van Meter against Ogden with 23 points on 11-of-13 shooting. Brittain scored 16 points, and Suckow, Flaherty and Ben Engstrand all finished with six points apiece. Eslick added five points and five assists.
