Bulldogs edged by Hawks in conference battle

Van Meter was turned away by Woodward-Granger in a25-18, 25-17, 25-22 loss on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs fell to 5-7 on the season. The Hawks improved to 12-13.

Van Meter on Sept. 19 won one match at a triangular at Des Moines Christian. The Bulldogs beat Mount Ayr 16-21, 21-6, 15-8. Katie Agey had 10 kills, 10 digs and three aces. Ali Flaherty added seven kills, Ellie Folkerts finished with five and both Allison Ridgway and Allison Volk contributed four. Lizzy Lyon had 25 assists and AShlyn Reicks recorded 10 digs and three aces.

The Bulldogs also dropped a 22-20, 6-21, 12-15 decision to Newton, led by 10 kills from Agey and eight from Flaherty, and lost to Des Moines Christian, 21-11, 21-13.
