Bulldogs host Dave Tapps Invitational at Van Meter

Every year, the Van Meter track teams host the Dave Tapps Invitational at Van Meter High School. The Dave Tapps Invitational was on May 1 this season and the Bulldog boys took second while the girls took sixth at the annual meet in Van Meter.

The boys scored 113 points as a team and the girls scored 66 points as a team.

The Bulldog girls only won one event at the invitational and that was the 4x400 meter relay. The team consisting of Ali Flaherty, Nicole Meyer, Ellie Folkerts and Katie Agey finished the 4x400 in 4:21.61 and got the team 10 points.

The Bulldog girls got second place in the 4x200 meter relay.

For the boys, Brennan Dostal, a Drake Relays qualifier this year, won three events. He got first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.35 seconds, first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.43 seconds and first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 53.62 seconds.

Dostal was also a part of the 4x400 meter relay team along with Justin Ashley, Grant Hoppes and Ben Flaherty that got first place with a time of 3:37.59 as well as the 4x400 meter relay team that got second place.

Van Meter’s James Orf took second place in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:59.81 and the distance medley relay team also got second place.

The Bulldogs, both boys’ and girls’ teams, also competed at the West Central Activities Conference track meet on Tuesday at Van Meter
