Bulldogs snap three-game skid

The Van Meter softball team has been struggling this year, but they managed to snap a three-game losing streak on Tuesday night against Gutherie Center with a 5-4 win in Van Meter. The Bulldogs’ previous two games had been rained out.

The Bulldogs scored all five of their runs right away in the bottom of the fifth inning. While Gutherie Center slowly clawed their way back into the game, scoring once in the third inning, twice in the fifth and once more in the seventh, the Bulldogs held them off for the victory.

Back on June 25, the Bulldogs played against West Central Valley for the second time of the season. The Wildcats took the game by a score of 6-4, despite Van Meter winning the first game earlier this season by a score of 12-9.

After the make-up game with Ogden (original game was rained out on Monday) on Wednesday, the Bulldogs only have two games left on their regular-season schedule. They play Panorama at home on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. and then travel to Urbandale to play Des Moines Christian at 5:30 p.m. later that night.
