A-D-M’s Powers competes at nationals

On July 1st, the Central Iowa Select 18 Maroon girls volleyball team won the USA Volleyball 2014 18U Girl’s Junior National Championship. Playing in the four day tournament held in Minneapolis, MN, CIS 18 Maroon won eleven straight matches in winning the National Division. 18 Maroon finished with a season record of 53-16. They placed 3rd in the 17U National competition in Dallas, TX in 2013 and won the American Division 16U title held in Columbus, OH in 2012. In all, the 18 Maroon girls compiled a remarkable three year USA National Tournament record of 31-1.

18 Maroon based at MVP Sports in Des Moines, defeated teams from California, Michigan, Texas, Missouri, Oregon, Arizona, Pennsylvania and Minnesota in winning the 2014 National Division Championship. Kaylee Smith and Kyla Inderski were named to the National Division All-Tournament Team. Megan Ballenger received the tournament’s Most Valuable Player Award.
