The A-D-M baseball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 6-1 victory over Carroll on Tuesday.
The Tigers got a complete-game, seven-strikeout performance from Ethan Herron for the team’s fifth victory in eight games this season.
A-D-M dropped a pair of decisions on May 25 to Ankeny, 12-2, and North Polk, 4-1. Kyle Herrick had two hits, including a double against Ankeny, while Logan Essy doubles and drove in a run. A-D-M managed just four hits against North Polk.
The team also fell in a 12-inning game against Indianola, 3-2, on May 24. Herrick and Grant Goeden had two hits apiece, and with Dylan Nelson, combined for 20 strikeouts over the course of the game while allowing just five hits.
The team also logged wins over Atlantic, 7-5, on May 23, and Earlham, 9-1, on May 22. Goeden was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs against Atlantic, while Nelson added three hits, including a homer, and two RBIs. Herron struck out eight.
A-D-M got a six-run third inning against Earlham. Nelson doubled twice, Goeden had three hits, including a double and Herrick drove in two. Logan Essy and Jesse Bennett also had two hits apiece.
Sam Kornstad picked up the win, allowing just one hit over five innings. Jackson VerWoert pitched two scoreless innings to close out the win, striking out four and walking two.
