A-D-M boys and girls compete at Central College

With the girls set to begin the outdoor season on March 31 in Grimes, and the boys’ season beginning on April 4 in Winterset, both teams from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn competed in an indoor meet at Central College in Pella on March 21 and 22.

In the girls 55 meter dash, there were 215 total competitors in the preliminaries and 16 in the finals. Haley Schepers and Madi Bertman made it to the finals and tied for 11th place.

The boys’ team had 15 runners compete in the 55 meter dash but none of them qualified for the finals with Grant Goeden being the top boys’ runner for A-D-M in that event, finishing 31st. Goeden was also the top runner for the Tigers in the 200 meter dash, finishing 22nd overall.

Olivia Anderson was the top Tiger girl in the 200 meter dash, finishing 44th. In the 400 meter dash, Regan Engleman finished ninth overall with a time of 1:02.50.

Tate Jensen finished in eighth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 55.53 in the finals. Kyle Hovey placed fourth in the 800 meter run for the boys.

In the girls 800 meter run, Brianna Mueller finished second behind Dallas Center-Grimes’ Madison Waymire. Mueller finished the finals with a time of 2:24.60.

In the boys 1,600 meter run, both Hovey and Josh Berger had top-15 finishes with Hovey placing 12th and Berger placing 15th. Berger also placed seventh in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 10:44.78 in the finals.

Jensen got seventh in the boys 55 meter hurdles preliminaries and fourth in the finals with a time of 7.69 in the finals.

The girls got sixth place in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:57.62 in the finals and 10th in the 4x800 meter relay with a final time of 10:59.71.

Jacob West got fifth place in the boys high jump for the Tigers with a height of 6-00 while Jesse Bennett got second in the boys shot put with a distance of 49-07.

Piper Freestone got seventh in the girls long jump with a distance of 14-07.

Dallas Center-Grimes didn’t travel to the event as a team, but Madison Waymire participated in the event and got first place in the 800 meter run and in the 1,500 meter run.
