Despite having the meet’s medalist and runner-up medalist, the A-D-M boys’ golf team came in second place at the Raccoon River Conference golf meet on Monday. Brody Boston, a state qualifier a year ago, was the medalist, shooting 72 through the 18-hole round of golf while his teammate Joe Vest was runner-up, shooting 75 through 18 holes.
The Tigers shot 321 overall as a team, which tied Winterset for second place and was four strokes behind Ballard, who won the conference meet, which took place at Terrace Hills Golf Course in Altoona.
Ben Sandquist was the Tigers’ third-best golfer at the conference meet as he shot 84 on the day. Jacob Schumacker shot 90 while Ben Gaedelmann and Logan Lemke each shot 91.
Ballard was able to capture the conference crown, despite Boston and Vest’s near par performances by not having any of their golfers need more than 85 strokes to finish the round.
Boone took fourth place at the meet, shooting 324 as a team, Carroll got fifth place, shooting 331, Perry got sixth, shooting 353, Carlisle got seventh with 355 and Bondurant-Farrar got eighth with 357.
The Tigers will compete at the boys’ sectionals in Atlantic on Friday. The meet begins at 10 a.m. at the Atlantic Country Club.
