A-D-M falls to Boone in seventh inning of substate finals

It seemed to be smooth sailing for the A-D-M baseball team.

The Tigers entered the bottom of the seventh inning of their substate game with Boone on Wednesday with a 3-0 lead, heaving had held their opponent to only four hits through the first six innings. After two hits, two errors and a walked in run, Boone’s Dylan McDowell had a three-run hit in the bottom of the seventh that won the game and sent the Toreadors to the state tournament with a 4-3 victory.

The Tigers’ Dylan Nelson pitched all seven innings for the Tigers and struck out seven batters and gave up six hits and walked just one batter.

A-D-M’s leadoff batter, Grant Goeden, had all three hits for the Tigers going 3-for-4 and also had the Tiger’s only RBI of the game. Jordan Grove scored the first run of the game for the Tigers in the first inning with Jackson VerWoert and Jacob Sloss scoring runs in the second inning.

The Tigers, who were the champions of the Raccoon River Conference, finish their season with a 29-10 record.
