The A-D-M volleyball team got off to a winning start, winning their first three matches at a tournament in Newton on Tuesday. They lost their last two matches and start this season off with a 3-2 record.

They defeated Carlisle, Knoxville and Newton 2-0 before losing to Oskaloosa 2-1 and then to Dowling Catholic 2-0.

Through the first five matches of the season, senior Kari Dufoe leads the team in kills with 32 (2.91 per set) on 80 attempts for a .213 kill efficiency. She started off the season in the first match against Carlisle with seven kills and only one attack error as the Tigers went on to win 21-8 in the first set and 21-5 in the second set.

Dufoe improved her attacking numbers in the second match against Knoxville as she had nine kills and only one attacking error for a .500 kill efficiency as the Tigers won, again, in straight sets 21-16 and 21-13. Her 32 kills through the first five matches ranks her No. 1 in the state early in the year.

Marissa Felt had 64 assists (5.84 per set) at the tournament, including 13 against Carlisle, 14 against Knoxville and 20 against Oskaloosa.

Tania Telford led the Tigers in digs at the tournament with 29 (2.90 per set) while Maddie Mikkelson had 20 (1.82 per set). Kenzie Sutton led the way for the Tigers with six total blocks at the tournament.

The Tigers return to action on Sept. 2 in Pella for a tournament. They will play against Bondurant-Farrar, Gilbert and Pella. The Tigers went 2-1 against Bondurant-Farrar last year, they beat Gilbert 2-0 last year and lost to Pella 2-0.

The Tournament begins at 5:30 p.m. at Pella High School.
