A-D-M takes Fillie Invitational crown

It was the last time the runners and field competitors from the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn and Dallas Center-Grimes girls’ track teams would compete before the Drake Relays begin as DC-G hosted the Fillie Invitational on Tuesday night in Grimes.

The Tigers took first place as a team, scoring 146 team points while the Fillies got second place overall wtih 112.5 team points. Also competing in the Fillie Invitational were Norwalk, Earlham, Carlisle, Gilbert, Grinnell, Creston, Saydel, Indianola and Ballard.

A-D-M’s Kari Dufoe showed why she qualified for the Drake Relays, accounting for 30 of the Tigers’ points at the meet. Maci Masching and Tatum Jorgensen each contributed 19 points to the Fillies’ total on Tuesday.

Dufoe took first place in the 100 meter dash, the 200 meter dash and the 400 meter dash with Torrie Hook getting second place in the 200 meter dash and the 400 meter dash. The Tigers also got first place in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 51.56 seconds.

A-D-M got second in the 4x200 meter relay and the sprint medley relay.

Brianna Mueller of A-D-M got second place in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:23.73.

Sydney Bertman of A-D-M got second in the long jump while Madi Bertman took third place in the same event. DC-G’s Brooke Kramer won the long jump event with a distance of 16-01.5.

Masching finished the 100 meter hurdles race in 16.1 seconds and took first place in the event with DC-G’s Kaitlin Wenell finishing in second.

The DC-G shuttle hurdle relay team, which qualified for the Drake Relays, took first place at the Fillie Invitational with a time of 1:07.85.

DC-G’s Tatum Jorgensen got second place in the high jump while the 4x400 meter relay team also took second place.
