The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn competed at the Pella Christian Invitational on Tuesday. Tiger runners and relay teams won a combined six events throughout the event.
Kyle Hovey won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:07.54 and also the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:56.33. Josh Berger took second place in the 1600 meter run finishing 5.06 seconds behind Hovey.
Berger went on to win the 3200 meter run, finishing in 10:37.10. With a time of 15.89 seconds, Tate Jensen won the 110 meter hurdles event, with Kolby Whisner taking third in the event, finishing with a time of 18.08 seconds.
Jensen also won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.74. The 4x800 meter relay team consisting of Brady Perry, Sam McCartney, Elijah McCartney and Hovey took first place with a time of 9:13.19.
Jesse Bennett rounds out the event winners for A-D-M as he won the shot put throw with a throw of 45-00.75.
Brady took fifth place in the 400 meter dash while the Tigers took fourth in the 4x100 meter relay, third in the 4x200 meter relay, second in the 4x400 meter relay, fourth in the distance medley relay and second in the shuttle hurdle relay.
The A-D-M boys return to track and field events on Thursday with an invitational at Urbandale.
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn boys’ track team took third overall with a team score of 94.5 at the Nevada High School Co-ed Meet in Nevada on April 10. Pella won the meet with a team score of 138.
The Tigers took fourth place in the 4x800 meter relay. The running team of Josh Berger, Elijah McCartney, Brady Perry and Kyle Hovey finished the race in 9:12.05.
Grant Goeden got fifth in the 100 meter dash, finishing the race in 11.74 seconds, while fellow Tiger Kolton Wicks was right on his tail, getting sixth with a time of 11.75 seconds. Tiger runners got fourth and fifth in the 400 meter dash as Reece McLaughlin finished in 56.48 seconds for fourth place and Perry finished in 56.86 seconds for fifth place.
A-D-M’s Tate Jensen got first place in the 110 meter hurdles with a time fo 15.38 while also getting first in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 56.53 seconds. Berger got second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:57.45.
Goeden and Wicks, who finished fifth and sixth in the 100 meter dash also finished fifth and sixth in the 200 meter dash. Goeden finished in 24.23 seconds for fifth place and Wicks finished in 25.22 for sixth place.
Goeden, Kolby Whisner, Mclaughlin and Hovey helped the Tigers to a fourth-place finish in the distance medley relay. They finished the race with a time of 3:47.42. The same team of runners got fourth place in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 46.65 seconds.
Berger got third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:13.69. Mclaughlin, Perry, Hovey and Berger helped the Tigers get a third-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:41.39.
A-D-M’s Jacob West got fourth place in the high jump with a height of 5-02 while Mclaughlin got third in the long jump with a distance of 17-09.
A-D-M’s Matt Lapour threw the discus 117-09 feet, which was good enough for fourth place while Jesse Bennett got second in the shot put with a throw of 46-09.
