DC-G golfers lose meet at Grinnell

The Dallas Center-Grimes boys’ golf team competed at Oskaloosa against Oskaloose and Pella Christian. DC-G came in second at the triangular shooting 178 overall to Pella Christian’s 171.

Mason Howerzyl from Pella Christian was the medalist, but DC-G’s Blake Borchers shared the runner-up honors with Justin Stravers of Pella Christian. They each shot 41.

The Mustangs competed at Grinnell Golf and Country Club on April 10 against Grinnell. The Mustangs lost the meet as they shot a 174 as a team while Grinnell shot 162.

Justin Carlyle from DC-G was the medalist, shooting 39. David Ingle and Sam Nissly each shot 44 while Alex Jaspering shot 47.

Blake Borchers shot 48 and Drew Johnson rounded out the scoring for the Mustangs, shooting 53. Junior Varsity golfers at the meet included Tanner Draisey and Keenan Moran. Draisey shot 48 and Moran shot 49.

The DC-G girls competed at Grinnell on Tuesday. They shot 245, taking third behind Grinnell, who shot 207, and South Tama, who shot 205.

South Tama’s Paige Van Dyk was the medalist of the meet. Michaela Fay led the way for the Fillies, as she shot 50 in nine holes.

A-D-M boys and girls

The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn girls’ golf team defeated Woodward-Granger on April 10, shooting 197 to W-G’s 268. Taylor Boorn shot 44 at the event and was the medalist.

Cailin Coker of Woodward-Granger recorded a 62 while Annie Webb had a 66 and Paige Mescher and Hannah Nelson each shot a 75. Morgan DeHoet finished the meet with an 84 for the Hawks.

The A-D-M boys beat both Madrid and W-G. The Tigers of A-D-M shot 158 while the Tigers of Madrid shot 190 and the Hawks shot 209.

Joe Vest was the medalist at the event after shooting 44 with the runner-up medalists being Ben Sandquist and Brody Boston, who both shot 38.

Austin Ober led the W-G boys squad with a 51 while Brady Aunspach and Nick Musich each shot a 52.
Dan Johnson rounded out the varsity scoring for the Hawks with a 54 in the effort.

The A-D-M girls won again on April 11 against Gilbert and Creston. The Tigers shot 211 while Creston shot 218 and Gilbert shot 260. Lexi Owen was the medalist after shooting 45 at the meet.
