Fillies cut down by Bombers

A former conference foe dealt Dallas Center-Grimes a 52-50 loss on Tuesday.

Ballard outscored the Fillies 15-6 in the fourth quarter and held on for the victory, dealing DC-G its second losss of the season.

The Fillies got 20 points from Dani Heritage. Lexi Rosa scored nine and Selena Nolte finished with eight.

DC-G improved to 2-0 in conference play with a 68-56 win at Pella on Dec. 13.

After trailing 23-12 at the end of the first quarter, the Fillies outscored the Dutch 56-33 in the final three quarters.

Heritage finished with 21 points, nine rebounds and three assists for the Fillies. Rosa added 13 points and six rebounds, and was 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. Rachel Lowary contributed 10 points and five rebounds off the bench, and Nolte scored eight.

The Fillies host Norwalk on Friday in the final game of 2013. They return to action at home on Jan. 3 against A-D-M. DC-G won a close 53-49 win in the teams’ first meeting on Dec. 3.
