Fillies fall short against Pella

Dallas Center-Grimes battled back against Pella but fell short in a three-set loss on Tuesday in Grimes.

After dropping the first set 25-8, the Fillies pushed the Little Dutch in the final two but came up short 26-24, 25-23.

Sophomore Chelsea Eilers had a team-high five kills to lead the Fillies. Selena Nolte added three and JEnna Humke had 13 assists and six digs, while Kaitlin Wenell finished with 11 digs.

DC-G had a 97.8 serve success rate (45-of-46). Eilers was 14-of-14 and recorded two of the team’s three aces.

The Fillies won one match in three tries at a tournament in Perry on Sept. 12. They beat Des Moines Christian, 21-9, 21-19, but lost to Coon Rapids-Bayard, 18-21, 21-14, 9-15 and Carlisle 21-14, 21-9.

Nolte had a team-high 14 kills across the three matches, while Eilers finished with nine. Humke added 32 assists and had an eight-ace match against CR-B.

DC-G travels Thursday to Adel to face A-D-M in a nonconference match, and returns to Little Hawkeye Conference play Sept. 24 on the road at Norwalk.
