Fillies get second at LHC meet, Mustangs get third

The Pella boys’ and girls’ track teams both took home titles on Monday at the Little Hawkeye Conference track meet in Pella. The Dallas Center-Grimes girls’ track team took second place with 132 team points behind Pella’s 185 team points, while the boys got third with 99 team points behind 145.50 points from Pella.

Madison Waymire ran in the 800 meter run and the 1500 meter run at the meet. She finished the 800 meter run in 2:22.72 and got first place while finishing the 1500 meter run in 4:58.03 and taking second place.

The Fillies took first place in the 4x100 meter relay and in the distance medley relay. The 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Brooke Kramer, Maci Masching, Bailey Norland and Kaitlin Wenell finished the finals in 51.62 seconds while the distance medley relay team of Kramer, Rachel Lowary, Maddie Carpenter and Waymire finished in 4:20.22, both teams securing 10 points for the Fillies.

The Mustangs won four relay races at the conference meet. They took first place in the 4x100 meter relay, the 4x200 meter relay, the 4x400 meter relay and the sprint medley relay.

The 4x100 meter team consisted of Noah Weeks, Austin Kloewer, Andrew Kramer and Chaz Chambers and they finished in 43.86 seconds. The 4x200 meter team had Kramer, Chambers, Kloewer and Jack Jorgenson and they finished the finals in 1:31.29.

The 4x400 meter team had Jorgenson, Kramer, Reese Iverson and Austin Grosklags and they finished in 3:32.57 while the sprint medley relay team of Evan Grimes, Keaton Means, Jackson Rude and Grosklags finished in 3:46.61.

Iverson took first place in the high jump with a height of 6-06 while Trey Washington got first place in the long jump with a jump of 20-05. They each secured 10 points for the Mustangs’ meet total.

The Mustangs will return to the track on Thursday for a meet at Perry while the Fillies will compete at Norwalk.
