While many games in the Dallas County area were being rained out, the No. 1 Dallas Center-Grimes softball team still traveled and played four games at the University of Iowa Softball Complex in Iowa City on June 27 and 28. The Fillies used four different starting pitchers through the weekend.

They defeated Fairfield 11-1 and Danville 12-0 on June 27 and then beat Central Clinton, DeWitt 8-0 and Iowa City Regina 7-0 on June 28.

Against Fairfield, Jackie Peyton went 2-for-3 with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs scored. Taylor Draisey went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Rachel Lowary got the start in the circle and pitched six innings and got the win, striking out five batters and walking one.

Abby Larson made her fourth start of the season in the circle for the Fillies and pitched four shutout innings while striking out three batters in the 12-0 win over Danville.

The Fillies combined for 11 RBIs against Danville with Paige Lowary, Rachel Lowary, Tabitha Taylor and Brooke Kramer having two apiece.

Selena Nolte was the Fillies’ starting pitcher against Central Clinton, Dewitt. It was only her second start and third appearance in the circle this season.

She pitched seven shutout innings and struck out two batters.

Peyton went 3-for-4 and had three RBIs while Rachel Lowary went 3-for-4 and had two RBIs. Peyton and Dani Heritage scored two runs apiece in that game.

The Fillies’ ace, Paige Lowary, finally got the start in the final game of the tournament and was true to her form. She struck out 13 batters while walking one and allowing just one hit in the 7-0 win over Iowa City Regina.

Allison O’Brien and Taylor each had a homerun with Taylor also having three RBIs.

Most recently, the Fillies defeated West Des Moines Valley by a score of 2-1 to improve their winning streak to 11 games and their season record to 29-1.
