A full slate of wrestling was granted to the Woodward-Granger matmen Dec. 14 when they attended the Ogden Duals Tournament.
The Hawks were in action against five opponents and unfortunately came up on the short side of the scoring ledger in each dual.
Greene County was a 53-18 winner over W-G in the first dual for the Hawks, with Humboldt scoring a 59-18 victory while Kuemper Catholic scored three pins and received two forfeits over the final five bouts (170 to 285 pounds) to slip off with a 48-36 win. Carroll downed W-G, 48-16, in the four dual for the Hawks, with the tourney ending with a 48-36 setback to Clarke.
Race Brant had a strong outing for W-G with five wins against no losses at 145 pounds. He received a forfeit against Kuemper and won a 5-4 decision agaisnt Michael Madsen (HMB) while pinning Tommy Bradshaw (GC) in 1 minute, 40 seconds, Eric Bruening (CAR) in 5:46 and John Cutshall (CLR) in 1:38.
Colton Milosevich dropped to 113 pounds and wrestled in the first three duals, receiving two forfeits while pinning Levi Sawyer (HMB) in 4:41.
Josh Keubler (126) was handed an opening bout technical fall loss by Dylan Forkner and received a final bout forfeit, while winning his three other matches to finish 4-1. He pinned Corey Kasperbauer (HMB) in 2:04; pinned Grant Sanders (KC) in 1:58 and nailed Dylan Feauto (CAR) in 1:58.
Kaleb Noel was 3-2 at 120 pounds. He had one win by forfeit (against Kuemper Catholic) while scoring a 12-2 major decision over Andy McDaniel (CAR) and pinning Landon Spurgin (CLR) in 3:38.
Also recording a 3-2 mark was 152-pounder Tanner Vermaas. He defeated Malcalm Boyd (HMB), 5-0l pinned Lucas Lampe (KC) in just 17 seconds and pinned Jarrod Coe (CLR) in 3:11.
Jordan Pierce (132), Collen Gibbons (160), Josh Groves (220) and Ryan Hodges (285) were all 1-4 in the tourney, with all four gaining their victory by forfeit.
W-G did not win any of its matches at 138 or 170 and left the 106, 182 and 195-pound weight classes open.
The Hawks were returning to Ogden after having faced the host Bulldogs in a WCC dual Dec. 12. The home squad was able to notch a 57-18 victory.
Milosevich, ranked eighth at 120 pounds, scored a pinfall victory over Shawn Heaning (time n/a), with Brant pinning Aaron Nigro at 145 (time n/a) to account for 12 points. The remaining six points came via forfeit when heavyweight Ryan Hodges found himself without an opponent.
